Mozambican and Zambian Presidents on day visit to Malawi

Written by

President of Zambia Edgar Lungu and Felipe Nyusi of Mozambique arrived Monday in Malawi through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe for a one day visit.

The two will hold talks with President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace in the administrative capital, Lilongwe.

They will discuss several issues of mutual interest for their nations.

In a brief interview with MBC the Mozambican President said Malawi and Mozambique share the boundaries, hence the need to share notes.

While Zambian President said they look forward to discussing with Mutharika about climate change, mainly its effect agricultural productivity.

Nyusi's visit to Malawi comes at a time when Mozambicans are sneaking into Malawi for international protection.

The Mozambicans are fleeing their country due to fighting between government forces and the country's opposition, Renamo.

However, Maputo argued that Mozambican asylum seekers are not fleeing civil war, saying they are seeking economic fortunes in Malawi.
