Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi announced this on Wednesday.

Said Dausi: “Based on the contributions he made towards national development, the State thought it wise to accord him a funeral with military honours.

“The late Chirwa, who worked as a diplomat, parliamentarian and Cabinet minister, will be remembered for his loyalty, maturity and exceptional standards which he displayed during the time.”

Late Chirwa’s family has since hailed President Peter Mutharika for recognizing the fallen politician even in his death.

Said Mcloud Nyirongo, a family member: “We thank the government for recognizing his work as a political leader and also as a leader in the community he lived after retiring from politics. We thank President Peter Mutharika for recognising Chirwa even in his death.”
