Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Rodrick Maida said the boy was abducted at his home on 8 April around four o’clock in the afternoon when his uncle was taking a bath.

Maida said the uncle stopped bathing and managed to track the abductor who had carried the boy on his shoulders in a maize garden where he shouted for help.

Members of the community intervened and apprehended the man who was later handed to police.

The man is expected to appear before the court of law and maximum sentence for child abduction is seven years imprisonment with hard labour.
