Thousands welcome Pres. Mutharika in Mzuzu

Thousands upon thousands of people lined up along the roads to welcome President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika when he arrived in the North on Saturday.

Katoto Roundabout was almost impassable as the DPP supporters, government officials, Members from business community, traditional leaders, and members from non-governmental organisations among others welcomed their leader.

 

The Malawi Leader arrived in Mzuzu City around 19:00 hours.

 

Greeting the crowd, President Mutharika said he was impressed with the support, love and friendliness people in the North have on him which was manifested when they defied darkness just to see and greet him.

 

President Mutharika said he has a number of engagements in the Northern Region including opening of a factory at Raiply, inspect progress of Mzuzu-Nkhata Bay Road among others.

 

Professor Mutharika said he will also interact with various groups of people while hinting that the construction of a modern and magnificent airport for Mzuzu will commence early next year.

 

The President also reminded people that things are ticking on the construction of Mombela University in Mzimba.
