During MCP NEC meeting in Lilongwe on Sunday, some top party officials like Msowoya, who is also Speaker of the National Assembly, did not attend on grounds that concerns, he, Kaliwo and three others, raised in the letter addressed to Chakwera were not addressed.

Recently, Msowoya, Kaliwo, second vice party president Macdonald Lombola, Deputy SG James Kaunda and Tony Kandiero wrote a letter to Chakwera accusing him of flouting the party's constitution.

However, some political commentators have cast doubt if the resolution will address the squabbles rocking the party.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that some senior members of MCP NEC were not aware of the meeting the party President Lazarus Chakwera called for on Sunday afternoon. These include Kaliwo, Felix Jumbe and the party publicity secretary Jessie Kabwila.
