Group Village Head (GVH) Chimbembe, under Senior Chief Ngabu in the district, met her cruel death between the night of 5 and 6 September in her own house.

According to the deceased niece, Catherine Folokiya, the chief, whose real name was Sineya Oloseni, was staying alone and used to keep her money in the house.

On the fateful night, the criminals hit the deceased house, demanding some cash.

It is suspected that the deceased protested to the demand, leading to her strangulation. She was found dead on Thursday morning.

A visit by the police from Ngabu and hospital personnel from Ngabu Rural Hospital found that GVH Simbembe died of manual strangulation.

The police have since intensified its efforts to unearth the suspected assailants.

A strong appeal has since been issued out to the general public to tip the law enforcers of any suspicious individuals behind the murder.
