President Magufuli said it is a fact that Professor Mutharika has performed wonders in developing the country citing the facelift at Kamuzu International Airport, the road infrastructure and downward adjustment of interest rate among others.
The Tanzanian leader made the remarks at a State Banquet President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika and the First Lady Her Excellency Prof. Gertrude Mutharika on Wednesday 24th April, 2019 hosted in honour of the visiting Tanzanian President, His Excellency Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli and Mama Janeth Magufuli, the First Lady of the United Republic of Tanzania and their delegation.
In his remarks President Mutharika commended his Tanzanian counterpart for honouring the invitation to come to Malawi. He reiterated that with the deep historical background which both countries share the bilateral relations between the two nations will grow from strength to strength.
Speaking at the banquet President Magufuli commended the Malawi leader for the great job he has done in improving the well-being of Malawians through socio-economic development. He cited infrastructure development and the decrease in inflation as a great achievement for Malawi under the wise and dynamic leadership of Professor Mutharika.
The two leaders earlier held bilateral talks at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe where they issued a joint communique among other things pledging to deepen their relations and boost trade ties between their two countries.
The talks centred in the areas of Trade, Infrastructure development and Transportation among others.
President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika and President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania exchanged gifts after holding bilateral talks at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
On Thursday, His Excellency Dr John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, President of the Republic of Tanzania, accompanied by His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika will officially open the 2019 Tobacco Marketing Season at Lilongwe Auction Floors.
President Magufuli is in Malawi for a two day state visit at the invitation of President Mutharika.
