4′ – A looping cross from Van Heerden wins a corner for Bafana which he takes and is punched out for another corner. Malawi eventually clear the danger through Tizgobele Kumwenda.

10′ – It’s South Africa who have been trying to carve openings in the Malawi defence so far, but their incessant pressure has yet to lead to a goal.
