2 struck dead by lightning in Mulanje

Two people have died of lightning injuries and 5 others are admitted after they were struck by lightning on Tuesday Afternoon at Lauderdale Trading Center in Mulanje.

The accident happened following heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning that struck seven people, killing two and injuring five in the process.

 

According Mulanje Police Publicist Sergeant Gresham Ngwira, the victims were rushed to Mulanje district hospital were two were declared dead.

 

Two of the people killed are Frank Smart and James Lipenga both of Mothiwa village senior chief Mabuka in Mulanje while those injured are Loita Saudi 23, Tonny Thomson 23, Peter Mathimbela 35, Chimwemwe Davis 18 and Dalitso Kachilambe 18 and are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
