Convention Chairperson Nicholas Dausi however maintained that all governing council (NGC) positions were open for competition.

Dausi, who is Minister of Information and Communications Technology, added that as of this week, aspirants for the various positions were still submitting nominations at the party’s secretariat.

So far, notable battle will be between DPP heavyweights Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa and his former Agriculture counterpart Dr. George Chaponda who will face each other on the position of vice president for the South.

Incumbent DPP vice-president for the Central Region Dr. Hetherwick Ntaba is also facing stiff challenge from former People Party acting president Uladi Mussa.
