During a donation of text books at Chikande Community Day Secondary School in Ntcheu, Chief Accountant for PIL Tawina Chapomba said the company believes in investing in the future leaders with provision of quality and up to date study materials.

Chapomba added that PIL understands the difficulties that the education sector faces in the country hence providing learning materials such as books and desks to various community day secondary schools.

“We have made it a point as a company to assist our children. For a nation to prosper, we need to build better foundations for the students. We believe that the books will carter for the needs of this school since we have been told that these are the first books for the new syllabus,” said Chapomba.

The Primary Education Advisor in Bilira Education Zone said lack of equipment and learning materials continue to pose a challenge in the education sector, making learners fail to compete with other students because of low grades.

"These books will act as resource books for the teachers and research material for the learners. Learning without research is counterproductive therefore make use of these books because your future is now or never," he said.

He hailed PIL to continue extending help to other rural area schools and urged them to continue holding hands with government in developing education in the country.

Chikande Community Day Secondary School is under Bilira Cluster and has an enrolment of 240 students. PIL made a donation of 277 books in various disciplines for forms 3 and 4 worth MK1.5 million.
