NICO Asset Managers Limited donates to Hope for The Blind

NICO Asset Managers Limited has donated over K1.5 million to Hope for The Blind.

The money is meant to support special needs students some of whom are pursuing their secondary studies at Stella Maris Secondary School in Blantyre. Speaking during the function, Chief Executive Officer for NICO Asset Managers Limited, Emmanuel Chokani, said his organisation felt compelled to make the donation as part of its corporate social responsibility programme which seeks to make a difference in the lives of people in the country.

 

“As we are managing investments for various clients who have invested money with us we ensure that we are creating wealth on their behalf. Whilst doing that we would also like to give back to society especially to the underprivileged. There are so many disadvantaged communities in our society and according to what we believe in as NICO Asset Managers Limited and as part of our corporate social responsibility this is donation will make a difference. This is the fifth year we have been assisting the special needs students at Stella Maris Secondary School and one of them is studying Bachelor of Arts at Chancellor College, we think that is a very big impact of our contribution to society,” said Chokani.

 

On his part Executive Director for Hope for the Blind, Hastings Bwande, said the relationship with NICO Asset Managers Limited has brought great change to the special needs students.

 

“NICO Asset Managers Limited has been a friend indeed and as of now we are sure that in the next few years one of the students who have been a beneficiary of their support will be a graduate. The current students are also promising that they will get selected to various universities in the country all courtesy of NICO Asset Managers Limited unwavering support,” said Bwande.

 

One of the special needs students who attended the function, Linda Makudzula said they face a number of challenges while pursuing their studies. She made mention of inadequate Braille books, hearing and visual enhancing aids and other necessities hence hailing the donation by NICO Asset Managers Limited.
