Commissioner Banda said this on Thursday in Neno after inspecting 11 centers in the district where he noted that centers in very remote areas have recorded significant promising figures compared to centers that are close to trading centers in the district.

He said for example in Neno South some centers have already captured 80 per cent of their given target within first five days of registration in the district.

“The Electoral Commission would like to express its deepest gratitude to chiefs who are also mobilizing their subjects encouraging all eligible people to get registered,” said Banda.

Banda said the development is not the same in centers that are close to trading centers like Zundu in Zalewa and Chikonde at Neno Boma where daily figures are not much promising.

He however expressed optimism that the situation will change as days go by. He said some people have a tendency of waiting for the final day to participate in the exercise.

Meanwhile, Banda has stipulated that Malawians will know the future of constituency re-demarcation exercise once the national population census exercise is over.

Commissioner Moffat Banda said this in a response to the concerns from election stakeholders in Neno that the district is failing to develop because it has only two constituencies and

four wards.
