President Mutharika will preside over the official opening of Umodzi Properties at Umodzi Park in Lilongwe this Friday. The Office of the President and Cabinet-OPC says the function will start at 10 O’clock in the morning. At Six O’clock in the evening the President will attend a Celebration Dinner of Umodzi Properties at Umodzi Park. And on Tuesday, next week the President will officially open the 2015/16 Budget Meeting of Parliament at Parliament Building in Lilongwe. The OPC says the function will start at 10 O’clock in the morning.

A 28-year-old man, Prince Moyo is in police custody at Balaka Police Station for allegedly impersonating a Police officer. The suspect was arrested following a complaint that he was troubling a certain businessman. According to police the suspect had on several occasions been going to Zuc Lodge to investigate some cases on pretense that he was a Police officer. The suspect further deceived Police Officers that he was an Officer based in Zomba. After searching in his house police discovered a Police sweater and other disguises. Prince Moyo comes from Chilokoteni Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kaluluma in Kasungu.

The Mzuzu Agriculture Development Division - ADD says the outbreak of African swine fever is threatening piggery farming in the country. Mzuzu ADD Livestock Officer Jacob Mwansinga told MBC that there is an outbreak of the disease in some parts of the ADD like Nkhatabay, Rumphi, Likoma and Mzimba North. Mwansinga said so far over 220 pigs have already died due to the outbreak since January.

National Bank wins IndeBank bid

National Bank of Malawi has emerged a preferred bidder to take the operations of IndeBank.   Chief Executive Officer for Public Private Partnership Commission – PPPC, Jimmy Lipunga disclosed this during a press briefing in Blantyre. Lipunga said National Bank of Malawi had satisfied the evaluation committee on the price of shares, recapitalization and Information Technology it offered.
