Such being the case, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development further wishes to inform the public that if the new moon is sighted on Thursday 14th June, then this year’s Eid Ul Fitri Public Holiday will be observed on Friday 15th June, 2018. Otherwise if the new moon is sighted on Friday 15th June, 2018 then the Public Holiday will be observed on Monday 18th June, 2018.

The Ministry further advises that announcement on the actual sighting of moon will be made by the Muslim Association of Malawi. The Ministry is therefore wishing all Malawians in the country and the general public a happy Eid Ul Fitri Public Holiday.
