They have also denied using an invisible hand in the ongoing treason case.

Three senior MCP members namely Member of Parliament for Lilongwe South West Peter Lewis Chakwantha, MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwira and Ulemu Msungama are currently on bail after being arrested in the Capital over alleged coup plot against State President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

The three are alleged to have been discussing the overthrow of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika through WhatsApp group chat.

National police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Nicholas Gondwa said the state has evidence that some more people who were on the forum must be brought to book.

“We know that there still some people out there who were part of the coup and as police we are have their warrants of arrests,” said Gondwa.

“We would like also to deny reports that we are being used by other political leaders, as police we have overwhelming evidence on the case so let people just patronise the courts when the cases commence,” added Gondwa.
