The bank rolled out the promotion as part of the celebrations marking 10 years of innovative banking in the country. Through the competition ten customers of the bank who kept a minimum of ten thousand Kwacha in their accounts stood a chance of winning K100,000 another ten walked away with power banks and another category of ten customers won solar lamps on a weekly basis during the promotion.
In her remarks Kondana Kamsesa, the grand prize winner, said Ecobank’s innovative solutions to banking helped her a lot when she was doing her further studies outside the country.
“I’m very happy that I have won the grand prize. I didn’t realise that there was a competition I was just doing my transactions with the bank till they called. I have been a customer of the bank for a while but I managed to get the cash express card this year. I was using it to pay my school fees and after my studies I have been using it for other transactions. Despite encountering some challenges with the card especially outside the country, Ecobank was quick enough to step in and resolve the same. Kudos to the bank,” said the seemingly rejoicing Kamsesa.

On her part, Deputy Managing Director for Ecobank, Victoria Chanza said the bank came up with the promotion to thank its customers for standing with it through thick and thin in the last ten years. She further said the bank is encouraging use of digital products such as debit cards or express cards.
“The promotion was fantastic actually we didn’t design it that we should accrue more deposits from the customers but we just wanted to say thank you to them through various prizes including the grand prize of K1 million. Looking ahead our customers should expect more and more innovative products,” said Chanza.
Ecobank opened its doors in the country in 2008 after acquiring controlling shares in Loita Investment Bank in December 2007. Currently the bank’s footprint is in all the four regions of the country.
