2.8million people to experience food shortage

The Secretary and Commissioner for Disaster Management Affairs, Bernard Sande says at least 2.8-million people will experience food shortage due to the floods that affected the country.


Sande was speaking in Mangochi when he received food items from International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia for the flood victims.


The food items worth over 50-million Kwacha will be distributed to flood victims in Mangochi and Phalombe districts.

Regional Director for the International Islamic Relief Organization in the Southern Africa Sheikh Walid El Saadi said the donation was a response to the devastating floods that affected thousands of people.
