His Excellency The State President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika returns home on Saturday from United States of America where he engaged in alot of bilateral and

multilateral talks with different leaders of the world ranging from government to industrial leaders. Among the achievements from the President's trip to the US are the talks

on the Nsanje World Inland Port and the lobby of more Companies into the Malawi tobacco buying exercise. The plane carrying The President and The First Lady Madamme

Gertrude Mutharika is expected to land at Kamuzu International Airport at 12 noon.


President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Public Service Act, has appointed Mr. Gerald Viola as Presidential Press Secretary. Mr Viola was previously working as Director of Information. Viola replaces Timpunza Mwansambo who was acting Presidential Press Secretary. The appointment is with immediate effect. 


Government has expressed concern over Xenophobia attacks in South Africa.

Government Spokesperson Kondwani Nankhumwa expressed the concern in an interview with MBC.

Nankhumwa who is also Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture assured all Malawians affected by the xenophobic attacks that government is doing everything possible to have the nationals repatriated home.

President Professor Peter Mutharika leaves the country today for Washington in the United States to attend the 2015 ICCF Congressional International Conservation Gala.

The Office of the President and Cabinet says the President is expected to leave Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe at 2pm.
