Speaking during the presentation of the medical equipment, TNM Head of Sales and Distribution Protazio Mthethe said TNM, as a caring Malawian company, it is their wish to reach out to those that have not been able to celebrate with their failures due to illness during the festive season.
“We recognize the ongoing effort by government and other agencies to provide essential services in our hospitals, however, the challenges are enormous hence TNM and Huawei decided to do something about the situation,” said Mthethe.
He said the two companies hope that the donation of the food stuffs and medical equipment to the hospital will uplift the spirit of patients and guardians and will improve service delivery at the hospital.
Receiving the donation, District Medical Officer Dr Wamaka Kusopole said the donation will go a long way in providing reliable health services with surgical operations in the maternity and pediatric wards.
“The donation will lessen the challenges that we face. One of the crucial equipment that we have received is the baby resuscitaire which will lessen deaths of under 5 children in the district,” said Dr Kusopole.
Medical equipment donated to the hospital includes autoclave machine, delivery beds, baby resuscitaire, vicryls, linen, patient’s trolleys and gumboots. TNM and Huawei also made a donation of assorted food stuffs and toiletries to patients in the children and maternity wards
