In a statement, the State House Press Office says the President had learnt with shock, the death of T/A Bvumbwe of Thyolo who died on Wednesday at Blantyre Adventist Hospital after suffering from meningitis.
It said the President was also saddened to hear of the passing on of Willie Samute, who was Deputy Chief Secretary to the Government.
Samute died at Milpark Hospital in South Africa where he had been admitted from February.
The statement said the death of the two sons of the land had robbed Malawi its productive citizens who had selflessly given their best to serve the country.
The President said T/A Bvumbwe who died at the age of 36 was a very dedicated young man who gave his life to serving the people under his jurisdiction.
President Mutharika also said late Willie Samute was a well of wisdom as he had served in the civil service for many years and was always ready to offer advice when needed.
