President Arthur Peter Mutharika says Malawi will soon embark on programs aimed at minimising the impact of disasters that come as a result of climate change.


President Arthur Peter Mutharika has expressed shock and sadness with the untimely death of about twenty Malawians after a speeding truck ploughed into a number of stationery minibuses and traders at Kampepuza Market in Ntcheu on Friday. 25 people have also sustained varying degrees of injuries during the accident.


A speeding truck has ploughed into stationery minibuses and group of people at Kampepuza Market in Ntcheu, leaving at least fifteen people dead and many others injued.


Latest published figures from the National Statistical Office (NSO) have shown that Malawi’s year-on-year inflation for January eased by 0.9 percentage points to 7.9 percent, courtesy of easing prices of non-food items. During the same period last year, inflation stood at 7.8 percent.
