In a press statement signed by Chief of Health Services in the Ministry, Dr. Charles Mwansambo, a combined measles and rubella will be administered to children from the ages of 9 months to 15 years.

The process of deworming will be administered to children of the ages of 1 year to less than 5 years while Vitamin A will be supplemented to children aged between 6 months and 5 years.

“After the campaign, from July 2017, the Ministry will introduce the measles and rubella into the routine immunisation schedule for the children. The measles and rubella vaccine will continue to be given to children from 9 to 23 months of age,” reads part of the statement.

The Ministry of Health with partners has organised this Integrated Measles Rubella Vaccination campaign to ensure adequate protection for children against measles and rubella diseases, intestinal worms and Vitamin A deficiency conditions.

Minister of Health Dr Peter Kumpalume will grace the launch of the campaign at Kasungu Community Ground on 9 June 2017.
