Kapalepale: a radio drama icon to be remembered

One of the country's drama artists, Eric Mabedi has described the death of veteran radio drama icon, Smart Likhaya Mbewe as big loss to the entertainment industry in the country.


Mabedi who plies his comedy trade under the name Jakobo said Likhaya Mbewe was a great teacher in radio drama and will be remembered for his zeal to train upcoming artists in the entertainment circles.

“We cannot talk of radio drama without mentioning the name of Smart Likhaya Mbewe. It was always an honour sharing the stage with him when I started doing drama in the 80s and 90s. His death is a big blow to the drama community,” said Mabedi.

Mabedi said late Likhaya Mbewe leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication by producing four radio o programs per week which were beautiful and centered on themes that related to everyday life.

Smart Likhaya Mbewe well known as Kapalepale died on Friday at Mulanje District hospital.
