Speaking to MBC, Presidential Advisor on Civil Society Organizations, Mabvuto Bamusi, disclosed that a 15-man high powered delegation of senior government officials will still meet the human rights defenders on Wednesday on a number of issues of national interest.
“There are a lot of development initiatives happening in this country, the massive progress in terms of development and good governance. A very good example is the access to information legislation. It is one area where the same CSOs were pressing for the legislation. Previous governments or administrations never paid attention to the Access To Information law but it is the administration of President Professor Mutharika which for the first time has made sure that we have the legislation in place,” said Bamusi.
Earlier, Government extended an invitation to the CSOs for a meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning which did not materialize due to the civil society leaders’ failure to turn up.
