Presenting the books at a ceremony held at the school,PIL Operations Manager Edwin Pingani said their Corporate Social Responsibility believes that government alone cannot be left alone in uplifting the education sector.
“We work together with the department of education. We ask them to identify the needy schools and we go there and fulfill our obligation. We believe I giving back to the community and we will continue to render our help. We believe in an educated nation and we will help the nation realize that goal,” said Pingani.
Head teacher for Mphande CDSS Jolamu Mkwana said the books will benefit both the teachers and learners to guide them through their study circles which will offer them enough preparation for their final exams.
“As a school, we propose that these students should have enough time with the books and use them for both studying and reference. We thank PIL for this good gesture and we promise to keep them safe and utilize them fully,” said Mkwana.
Form four student and librarian at the school Florence Galanje said their library had inadequate books and they had problems in researching and referencing after various lessons.
PIL is making various donations to hospitals and schools through its CSR in the health and education sector and has so far been to Chilenje CDSS in Kasungu, Chisu CDSS in Nkhatabay and Chileka CDSS in Lilongwe.
