Mhango who is also the Democratic Progressive Party DPP Treasurer General was speaking during a developmental rally he held after officially commissioning Chankhomi Bridge which government has constructed in Rumphi district.

He further urged the party’s area committees to continue opening doors as it anticipates many more people from opposition parties to join the winning fold.

Mhango said the bridge which has been upgraded to concrete is a relief to the area as its absence caused unbearable consequences connecting to social services like hospitals, education facilities; markets farm lands and a number of villages.

“This bridge links Rumphi district Hospital, Chankhomi CDSS, Rumphi Main Market, District Commissioners Office and many more crucial areas of the district, therefore it is a very important bridge.

“I must commend all who have taken part in the construction works, the bridge is of good standard and durable and can withstand big vehicles,” said Mhango.

Mhango, who is also Treasurer General for the ruling DPP, addressed a rally at Chankhoni CDSS ground and expressed government’s continued commitment to developing the area where he highlighted projects under the DPP led government.

He said President Mutharika has performed beyond doubt as demonstrated through development projects.

“It is obvious that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will win in the forth coming elections, so the best way to go is to continue supporting our President and shame the opposition; and if anything what the opposition can do is to join us and together develop the nation in line with the saying ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’,” he said.

Group Village Headman Chikalamba, while commending the DPP leadership for uplifting the area, called on fellow chiefs to commend government where it is due.

“We are witnessing a change in the district, government is constructing the Njakwa - Livingstonia Road, Rumphi – Nyika – Chitipa Road, Rumphi TTC, we have water projects, Stadium, bridges, and many projects which were not there before,” said GHV Chikalamba.

Taking turns, DPP Regional Governor for the north urged people to vote for DPP Member of Parliament if they want to see meaningful development.

He said constituents of Rumphi Central have lost a lot because of the current MP who seems not to bring meaningful development to the area.

“Rumphi Central Constituency has been in the opposition for long, and the opposition has denied the area relevant development instead they have been in the fore front frustrating government’s development projects; But, the good thing is that people have now promised to support DPP, vote for DPP member of parliament, DPP councilor, and DPP president who is Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika,” said Sanga.

Many people attended the meeting and pledged to continue working with the DPP leadership.
