Fisherman escapes death from crocodile attack

A 34-year-old Chikondi Tchutchu is battling for his life at Mangochi District hospital after being attacked by a crocodile.

The incident occurred on the wee hours of March 15, 2019 at Masada Fishing Dock along Lake Malawi in Monkey Bay.


According to Deputy Public Relations Officer for Mangochi Police Station, Sergeant Amina Tepani Daudi, on this material day the victim and his fellow fishermen went fishing using an engine boat.

 

As they were about to start off into the water, the victim was attacked by the crocodile when he was trying to board the boat.

 

Luckily his friends rescued him from the beast and he was rushed to Monkey Bay Health Centre after sustaining deep cuts on the lower part of the right leg and buttocks.

 

In the meantime the victim is still at Mangochi District Hospital where he was referred for further medical attention.

 

Chikondi Tchutchu hails from village Muwalo in the area of traditional authority Njolomole in Ntcheu.
