Ntchisi K1.5 billion forestry project benefits 1,000 youths

Ntchisi District youth officer Grey Kalampa has commended the Malawi Government for implementing the K1.5 billion Malawi Youth Forest Restoration (MYFR) project in the district, which is benefitting over 1,000 youths in terms of employment.

Kampala said this during a brief presentation to the council on some successes of the project since it was launched.


He said: “Apart from the project's goal of forest restoration, most youths especially those in registered youths clubs are benefiting as they are temporary employed and thereby getting renumeration."

 

Kampala said currently with the collaboration from the forest office, the project has reached out to 141 youth clubs where 1,051 youths are benefiting and the youths have planted 144,000 tree seedlings.

 


Government has funded the project which will run for five years.
