Education Minister warns of tough action on rioting BSS, TO students

Education, Science and Technology Minister Susuwele-Banda on Saturday condemned the violence at Thyolo and Blantyre secondary schools, saying the law will take its course on all students who are perpetuated violence which distrurbed other students.

"My ministry would not back any lawless students and would make sure investigations are carried out at the said schools,” the Minister told journalists at Capital Hill.

 

He said he was going to deal with all problems that would be found during the investigations.

 

“I call on students to avoid being used by other outside unscrupulous forces,” he said.

 

"All students found to have taken part in the vandalism, looting and burning of buildings, will be requested to contribute for replacement of goods, maintenance and refurbishment of damaged infrastructure," Susuwele-Banda hinted.

He said that government would expedite the investigations to make sure the schools are opened as soon as possible.
