The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has officially declared Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as its presidential candidate for 2019 elections.


89 candidates are contesting for various positions at 2018 Democratic Progressive Party – DPP National Convention which will run from 1 to 3 July at COMESA Hall in Blantyre, Organizing Chairperson of the Convention Nicholas Dausi disclosed.


Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya, who is also Member of Parliament for Karonga Nyungwe, has resigned from the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) where until recently he was the vice president of the country’s oldest political grouping.


Only two items; Constitutional amendments and elections, are forming the agenda of Democratic Progress Party (DPP) National Convention slated for next Sunday through Tuesday.
