Lilongwe residents told to protect the environment

Lilongwe City Council has made a general plea to its residents to invest in protecting the environment to prevent natural disasters in the city.

According to the city’s Deputy Mayor, Juliana Kaduya, some natural disasters can impact less on people if the affected areas are vegetative covered.


Kaduya made the remarks at a tree planting ceremony along Lingadzi River in the city.


She added that, despite planting the trees, there is need for continued care of the trees to ensure an increase in their survival rate.


In her remarks, Kaduya highlighted the need for collaborative effort for the country and the world at large to curb climate change devastating effect.
