The highly rated Blantyre Derby lived to its billing as Bingu International Stadium was filled to capacity. A number of football enthusiasts were non-committal as to which way the game will go following the history of the two clubs when they meet saying it’s unpredictable as it is a clash of titans.
The first half produced fireworks but with nothing to record on the score board. The last 45 minutes produced three brilliant goals; with Nyasa Big Bullets opening the score sheet through Bright ‘Bweke’ Munthali and as if that was not enough for astonished Be Forward Wanderers followers, Chiukepo Msowoya nailed a painful goal making it two zero.
Wanderers technical bench made a tactful decision, pushing in Zicco Mkanda and minutes later it paid dividends as he scored a stunning goal for Lali Lubani boys. Despite Be Forward Wanderers making several attempts to level the scores and force the game into knockout penalties, the derby ended 2-1 in favour of Nyasa Big Bullets and they will meet Blue Eagles in the final match.
