Defending Champions Mighty Be Forward Wanderers hope to reduce the gap on current TNM Super League leaders Silver Strikers as they are scheduled to face off with Nchalo United and Dwangwa United this weekend.

Wanderers: Eye maximum points Wanderers: Eye maximum points

Silver Strikers top the 16-member log table with 23 points from 10 games, followed by Nyasa Big Bullets with 22 points from the same number of games.

Wanderers are on position nine with 14 points from 8 games. They climbed up from position 13 to nine when they bagged six points last weekend.

They beat Kamuzu Barracks 1-2 at Kasungu Stadium on Saturday before thrashing Blue Eagles 0-3 the following day at Nankhaka Stadium.

Silver dislodged Bullets at the summit when they beat Karonga United 1-2 at Karonga Stadium on Sunday.

Wanderers will play away to Nchalo United at Mangochi Stadium on Saturday before hosting Dwangwa United at Balaka Stadium the next day.

While Silver will host Mafco at Silver Stadium with Azam Tigers hosting Mzuni FC at Mulanje Park Stadium in Mulanje.

And the battle for points will continue on Sunday with Red Lions hosting Moyale FC at Mangochi Stadium; Kamuzu Barracks will battle it out with Mafco at Kasungu Stadium.

Wanderers Team Manager Steve Madeira said the defending champions are now on the right track and look forward to reducing the gap on the leaders.

Madeira said it was also pleasing that his team did not only bag maximum points but also managed score five goals.

“We will continue to improve as the season unfolds. We have got players with big hearts and will fight to tooth and nail to collect much needed points.

“We have had hard moments and we have to work on our thing. We are largely aiming at points….. we are not thinking about where other are. We don’t want to drop any points and if we maintain the good run, score more goals, then we will win games and reduce the gap the leaders,” said Madeira.

Wanderers captain, Alfred Manyozo Jnr praised his fellow players for “the never-say-die” spirit displayed last weekend.

“The two victories [over Kamuzu Barracks and Blue Eagles] handed us a huge boost in the battle to defend title. We really worked for the goals that we scored against Blue Eagles on Sunday. I must salute my friends for responding very well.

“I am really happy with the fighting spirit from the guys. And I am really proud of them,” said Manyozo Jnr

Should they collect maximum points; the Nomads will climb up to third position with 20 points from 10 games while the Bankers will have 26 points from 11 games.
