MEC Director of Media and Public Relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa further told a local newspaper on Tuesday that as elections are fast approaching, people should watch out for rumour mongers.

Said Mwafulirwa: “While not trivializing any allegation, people should be assured that our systems are robust and secure. Elections will not be rigged.

“We are in a season of rumours and allegations; therefore, people should be cautious with statements being made”.

Mwafulirwa was apparently reacting to continue elections rigging assertions by United Transformation Movement (UTM) leader Saulos Chilima.

During a political rally held at Masintha Ground in Lilongwe, Chilima claimed that there was a machine which has procured with an aim of rigging next’s year’s poll.
