Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika left the country on Friday to attend the 25th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP) in Madrid, Spain from 2nd to 13th December, saying he will ask developed countries to reduce emissions which lead to climate change challenges.


The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with non profit making organisation Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) that would see the public broadcaster extending the ‘Tilekeni Tiphunzire’ radio programme to the television platform, MBC TV.


Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Wednesday paid tribute to the country's longest serving Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelson Khonje, who died Sunday aged 95 and was interred at his home village in Mwanza before thousands of people and dignitaries.


The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) says it welcomes a generous and timely contribution of US$4.5 million (3.4 billion) from the Government of the United States that will support 217,000 people facing severe hunger in Malawi during the region-wide food crisis.
