MBS Board Chairperson, Action Amos was speaking in Mzuzu during a two day training workshop on the Importance and role of certification on business success the Bureau organized for over 70 SMEs in Northern region.
Amos said certification guarantees standardization which is crucial for competitive markets.
“SMEs are a backbone for economy hence we are providing this training so that the SMEs should stick to quality and all the processes so that they are safe in a business environment; most importantly what is needed to be certified by MBS,” he said.
Amos said this will also support the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy 3 which aims at building a productive, competitive and resilient nation.
“We have a big potential to contribute to the economic status of the country, focus on export driven initiative so this workshop will help them contribute inputs to the MGDS 3,” he added.
The participants went through all the processes on how they can produce good products with key emphasis to avoid short cuts in production process, one of the key factors hitting hard growth of SMEs.
“In standards there is no compromise and if you compromise you affect the product and the market so it is very important that every time you produce a product it should be of the same quality and consistent,” noted Davlin Chokazinga, Director General for MBS.
Kwithu Kitchen Cooperative is one of the organizations that have benefited from MBS Certification.
In her motivational talk, Vice Chairperson for Kwithu Kitchen Cooperative Prosperina Chaonamwene boosts of customer confidence, an increased business opportunities and business exposure as some of the merits through MBS certification.
This is the first group of people and organizations to benefit from such trainings.
