Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, who is also the outgoing chairperson of Southern African Development Community (SADC) has this morning arrived in Malawi for the Summit that officially opens in Lilongwe today. Nyusi is expected to handover the chairmanship to Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera.

Yesterday, Seven heads of State and Government  from the 16-member SADC arrived for the 41st Ordinary Summit. These are Andre Rajoelina of Madagascar, Mokgwetsi Masisi of Botswana, Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, Samia Sululu Hassan of Tanzania, Felix Tshisekedi of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Namibia Vice President Nongolo Mbumba.

Meanwhile, Zambia, which has just voted out President Edgar Lungu in last week’s election, will be represented by its Ambassador to Botswana and SADC Secretariat Mwansa Kapeya.
