Ralph Jooma: His victory is being challenged Ralph Jooma: His victory is being challenged

The case involves Gerald Kazembe of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Ralph Jooma of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

The case was the first to be filed and will be last to be disposed of from the 2019 tripartite election.

"Take notice that the court shall deliver its judgment on the petition on the 23rd day of August 2021 at 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon in open court," reads a notice from the Registrar of the High Court.

Kazembe who narrowly lost the election to Jooma moved the court to nullify the poll and order a fresh one on grounds that the election was marred with lots of irregularities.

In total, High Court in Malawi has nullified election results of seven constituencies, three in the shire valley, two in Mangochi, one in Phalombe and another in Nkhata-bay district on similar allegations.
