REPSSI Country Representative, George Alufandika, says the training intends to leave a lasting benefit to the adolescent mothers and their children, over and above the other intended outcomes of the Early Childhood Initiative for Children of Adolescent Mothers (MECIAM) project.
“We hope that the training will equip the adolescent mothers with practical skills to consider what ventures they can take up individually or as a group. This is expected to provide improved livelihoods for them and their children,” he said at the opening of the training on Wednesday.
REPSSI Malawi in collaboration with the Young Women Christian Association of Malawi (YWCA) is implementing the Malawi Early Childhood Initiative for children of Adolescent Mothers a project running with funding from Comic Relief and is  complemented by Sweden NORAD with a related focus on Maternal and Child Health Care, to support the sexual and reproductive health of the adolescent mothers.
