APM leaves Tue for Tripartite Meeting on Trade

State President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika leaves Tuesday for Cairo, Egypt where he will attend the Tripartite Meeting on Free Trade Area (FTA) for the Common Market for Eastern Africa(COMESA), Southern Africa Development Community(SADC) and the East African Community(EAC). According to a statement signed by presidential press officer Gloria Masanza-Kanyang’wa , President is expected to depart Kamuzu International Airport at 8:30 in the morning. Kanyang’wa said Heads of State to the summit are expected to sign the FTA agreement whose aim is to create a large single Free Trade Area, covering the combined membership of COMESA, EAC and SADC.  The statement further reads that From Egypt, Mutharika will proceed to Pretoria, South Africa for the African Union Summit which will take place from 14th to 15th June.
