VP Chimulirenji mourns Namangale

People from all walks of life gathered at Mankhokwe Village in Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba, to pay their last respects to the late Joseph Namangale, father to Deputy Commander of the Malawi Defence Force Lieutenant General Namangale as he walked his last mile on earth.

Born on 7 July 1932, Namangale died on Wednesday this week at Mwaiwathu hospital in Blantyre, after suffering from stroke.


 Namangale, himself a retired soldier who had served in a Zambian Army from 1959 before returning to Malawi to join MDF in 1961. He retired in 1982 at Staff Sergeant Position.


In his eulogy, Vice President Everton Chimulirenji who was franked by Deputy Minister of Defence Chipiliro Mpinganjira and army General Commander General Vincent Nundwe said President Arthur Peter  Mutharika was saddened by the death of the Namangale senior.


The Vice President said from the back ground of  Namangale , it was clear that his son, Lieutenant General Namangale had learnt from the best.


“President Mutharika has sent me just to let you know that he is mourning together with you,” said Chimulirenji.


Mutharika  condoled the bereaved family with K500, 000.


 Namangale is survived by a wife and 10 children.
