Fire guts Delamere House in Blantyre

Fire has damaged part of Delamere House in Blantyre, Malawi's commercial capital.

The fire, believed to have started around 7am, has mainly damaged floor number 4, which houses Pakachere Institute for Health offices and part of floors number 5 and 6.

 

Witnesses allege that the fire emanated from an electric spark in one of the rooms occupied by Pakachere Institute for Health. Currently the fire has been contained by the fire brigade.

 

Police and owners of the house, were yet to cost the damage as we went to the press on Friday morning.

 

Delamere House comes after Nico and Escom houses to be destroyed by fires in recent times in the heart of Blantyre City.
