TRAGEDY IN NTCHEU, 21 FEARED DEAD

A tragedy in Ntcheu is feared to have claimed 21 lives Police are yet to confirm the exact figures.

The development follows a head-on collision of two trucks and a coaster along the M1 Road between Mlanda and Lizulu close to Bomba Filling Station on Sunday, August 1, at 1:30 am.
 
The Police say the coaster with  27 female passengers travelling to Chikwawa is currently stuck underneath a truck with a rescue mission underway.
 
 Hospital emergency and the Police rescue team are already on site.  Fatalities and casualties are being referred to Dedza District Hospital. 
 
An eyewitness on the scene said  21 dead bodies (18 adults and 3 minors) were seen being removed from the wreckage of the coaster.
 
Ntcheu Police Publicist, Hastings Chigaru has confirmed the accident but did not confirm the number of people feared dead.
 
" I confirm  the accident but I cannot say how many have died but it's a huge tragedy,"  Chigaru said.
 
Chigaru added that the public will be furnished with full details of the accident when they are done with the tragic scene.
