The development comes barely days after MBS also suspended operations of operations of Malawi Sun Hotel and Conference Centre Bakery.
According to a statement released by the Bureau, the hotel has been closed down due to non compliance with hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21: Food And Food Processing Units – Code Of Hygienic Conditions.
“The MBS wishes to advise the general public against patronizing Shire Highlands Hotel situated in Limbe until the hygienic conditions have been improved and the suspension lifted by the MBS,” reads in part the statement.
In January, Blantyre Water Board (BWB) disconnected water supply from the hotel for connecting water illegally.
The once popular hotel has been swimming in financial waters since the demise of its owner Alisa Ashani Makawa who died in October 2015.
