Among others the Synod of Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) secretariat has removed Rev. Levi Nyondo’s main challenger Rev.Timothy Nyasulu from the synod’s headquarters to Khondowe in Rumphi, where he will head the Station and Chaplain for the University of Livingstonia.
The transfer comes barely days after reports emerged from the social media indicating that Rev. Nyasulu obtained funds from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to bar Nyondo from contesting for third term for the position of Secretary General.
Apart from Nyasulu, the Synod has also transferred Reverends Wishart Mzembe from Ekwendeni to Mchengautuwa, Zina Sibande from Mchengautuwa to Njuyu, Maurice Munthali from Lilongwe area 47 to Katawa and he has been replaced by Rev. Chiumbo from Chitipa.
Reverends Botha, Lapani Nkhonjera, Kumwenda, Lumbani Munthali, Chisunkha and Joshua Nyangulu have also been affected by the transfers.
Meanwhile the Synod is yet to explain the cause of this major shakeup but critics say the transfers are a move to make his challengers weak and as a way of punishing them for contesting against him in the closely contested elections.
