Speaking exclusively to MBC in this month’s edition of Talk to the President, the Malawi leader also announced that the DPP manifesto is almost ready for unveiling.
“I am ready. We have a manifesto almost ready and very soon we will be launching it. As DPP, we have a story to tell as the works of our hands are speaking,” said President Mutharika.
Talk to the President is a quarterly program on Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, where Malawians are accorded a rare chance to ask the President any question of national interest.
And in responding to a question from one, Albert Mhango from Mzimba in regarding to the acts of political violence in some parts of the country, Professor Mutharika urged his fellow candidates to make sure that the battle to State House be based on ideas not violence.
“There is just no need for violence at all. Let’s compete on ideas. This campaign is about ideas on how best each one of us thinks can move this country forward and what policies we are going to adopt in order to progress as a country.
“I want to discourage anybody or any political party from engaging in violence. I personally and the Government will not tolerate any acts of violence during the coming elections even after the elections,” said President Mutharika.
