According to Limbe Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane, on July 18, 2017 in the morning hours traffic police officers were conducting traffic checks along Kenyatta Drive in Kanjedza township and in course of their work, one of the officers stopped the vehicle registration number BQ 4236 for the traffic offence of answering a phone call whilst driving. In the course of apprehending the suspects, one suspect ran away and is still at large.
“In the process he discovered that the driver and his accomplice who ran away carried two bags containing the illicit drug weighing 90 kilogrammes each,” he said.
Nhlane added that currently cannabis sativa have been sent to Bvumbwe research station for examination before the suspect is taken to court to answer the charge of found in possession of Cannabis Sativa
“Police are still looking for the remaining suspect to answer the same offence,” he added.
The suspect hails from Somanje Village in area of Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre district.
