Man sentenced to 30 months IHL for robbery

Limbe Second grade magistrate on Thursday July 20, 2017 convicted and sentenced Witness Paul aged 23 to serve a jail term of 30 months with hard labour for committing robbery offence.

According to Limbe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane, the convict on June 12, 2017 violently robbed a certain man two cellphones and money amounting to K18, 000.00 at BCA Hill in the City of Blantyre.

 

“After investigations police managed to arrest Witness Paul and in court he denied the charge but state prosecutor Sub inspector Nachuma proved beyond reasonable doubt hence the presiding magistrate Khobiri slapping him with a 30 month custodial sentence to act as a deterrent to would be offenders,” he said.

 

Witness Paul hails from Kilaliki Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mlumbe in Zomba district.
