Isaac Jomo Osman said he is helping over 60 elderly persons in Bangwe Township alone. On 26th July the Bangwe based businessman handed over a house which he constructed for one of the elderly he supports. He said this is the symbol of thanksgiving for the good things the elderly do to his family.

“What happened in Neno where people killed the elderly, I was touched having in mind that one day I will also get old. These old people are really sidelined in many areas in our society. The elderly woman whom today is receiving a house will now have a home to stay. I feel sorry when youths are not supporting the elderly,” he said appealing to youths to take a leading role in supporting the elderly in the communities.

He added that those people who think the elderly practice witchcraft are wrong as they have manage to reach that age because they managed to take care of themselves. He further stated that the elderly are source of wisdom especially if the young generation is to know where they are coming from.

“I take them to the Lake every year; I give them something for their families. These elderly persons are my best friends. I do a lot for them and will still be doing more to make them happy, getting old is not a problem,” he added pointing out that he is helping the elderly with no other motive behind.

In her remarks, Esitele James commended Osman for the house describing him as her hero. She added that in her life she never thought of living in a decent house with cement.

“I am very happy; I never knew that we have caring people in this world. He should do this to others,” she said advising youths to live life of purpose if they are to live longer in their life.
